WDYT re: maternity leave and sending son to sitter's still...

So my plan was to send my son to the sitter's just one day a week while I'm on maternity leave.  He loves it there and I don't want him to totally get off his schedule and then have a hard time going back there when I go back to work.  I sort of feel guilty as it is though sending him one day, like I should have him home with me all the time since I'm going to be home.  To be honest though, I think the one day break will be good as I know I will be so busy with the new baby.  I was talking to a friend of mine though and she thinks I should send him more than that as it will be better for him to keep his routine.  Do you agree with this?  I already know I wouldn't send him every day but wonder if maybe I should send him more than once/week.  Just wondering what would be best for him.....

  • I would def do more than once....probably 2 and if the baby turns out to be a little difficult or you get super tired then I would up it to three.

  • I'd definitely send him at least once a week. It would really help him to keep a routine, plus he'll be with all of his friends. Plus, it will help you get into a routine with your new little one.
  • I'm not gonna lie....when I had Emily, Alexis went to daycare 2 days a week.  She loved going and it gave me time to have some 1 on 1 bonding time with Emily.  I think it was good for all of us.  I'd highly recommend keeping him with his friends and giving him someplace to expend some energy that doesn't involve you having to keep up with him.  It worked really well for us.
  • when we have #2 Ethan will still go to daycare a couple times a week. I know she depends on the money and that will really hurt her.  Plus I'm sure I'll need time with just the new baby.  I send ethan to daycare  for a couple hours on my day off when I need to  get stuff done.
  • I'll probably drop Charlie down to 2 days a week (our daycare's minimum) when the baby comes, at least for the first month or so.
