I slept on my back the entire PG with DS. Your body will automatically adjust/move/wake you up when it becomes unsafe for the baby, so no worries! You're lucky if you can sleep at all, so enjoy it
I'm 21 weeks and still sleeping on my back for part of the night. I mentioned it to my doc and he said if I set up a videocamera of just sleeping, then he guarantees I'm moving around through out the night....
I'm probably most comfy on my back, but since I've been told its not a good idea, I avoid it. Its hard b/c then I end up waking up a ton of times during the night b/c I'm on my back and I think its my body's way of saying "time to turn to the side".
I'm 22wks today & still haven't changed a thing about how I sleep just because I'm pregnant. I sleep either on my back or my side, whichever is more comfortable at the time. My doctor told me from the beginning to not worry about the position I sleep in, as long as I'm comfortable that's all that matters.
I can't sleep on my back because I get terrible headaches if I do (I know that's weird - I don't know why it happens).
Also, one of my arms always falls asleep, which is annoying.
I sleep partially on my back with half of my back propped up on the snoogle and that seems pretty comfy! I do the same thing with tummy sleeping, kind of half on my stomach, but propped up on the snoogle. Snoogle is my friend.
OK, I don't know why it wouldn't just let me post this in my post right above, but this happens to me too! i hate when i wake up and my arm is totally asleep! The worst is when your arm is asleep and you wake up to go tot he bathroom!
My doc said it wasn't safe to sleep on your back? Because your uterus rests on a major artery?? Have any of your doctors mentioned this to you? I've been killing myself trying to sleep on my sides. . .

I read for an hour or so every night on my back for my whole pregnancy with ds and after he was born found out that it probably was the reason why I had back labor, which was more painful than all the other parts of labor combined. Just don't do it at the end of your pregnancy, you do not want to deliver a sunny side up baby. Laying in that position makes it more likely for the baby to be turned up rather than down later on.
I sometimes still sleep on my back when it's comfy. Though there are times where LO is just not having it and I can feel him move back and it just puts tons of pressure on me so I move. Pretty sure that's the "your body will let you know" moments.
I change positions in my sleep but almost always go to sleep on my stomach and wake on my back. I know at 21 weeks people say sleep on my side but I'v tried everything and always end up on my back by morning. I figure as long as it's comfy women 100 years ago slept how they could in much rougher conditions so I'll be just fine.

I fall asleep on my side but almost always wake up on my back with at least one arm asleep.
This! What is the one arm asleep thing all about? It happens to me every night!

I've woken up quite a few times with one arm asleep too! I don't know why, but it must be pg-related thing.
Me too!

It's really only a problem if it start effecting your circulation.
I had to stop at 20 weeks because my hand will fall asleep if I'm on my back.
The weight of your uterus and baby cut down the circulation and will cause your limbs to fall asleep.
In my case, it's always my right hand.
