I had DH measure the inside of our crib to make sure we get the right size and it was 52x28 1/4 ( or 3/4, can't remember at the moment). I really wanted to go w/the foam mattress recommended in the Baby Bargains book, the Colgate Classica I, but its 52x28 and I would think that would be too tight of a fit, am I right?

That notwithstanding, you want a tight fit so that little ones don't get caught in between the mattress & crib. It's a PITA to change the sheets, but that's how it's supposed to fit.
