They ended up going internal at mine to try to see his head better. He was not really active during mine, but his head was resting behind my hip bone, so they needed a better angle. It's not likely you will have to go internal, but it's not unheard of. GL!
mine was over the belly. I didn't have to do anything to "prepare for it too" like drink lots of OJ or H2O or whatever else you sometimes do. They just said to come in.
Mine was abdominal, but then they did a quick internal one to check the cervix length (not sure if anything else was checked with that). I've had several ultrasounds and they have always started with abdominal and then done an internal (with the exception of those done in the first few weeks which were internal only). I guess it's just different at different places.
It took 3 1/2 long years, but we finally got our little miracle!

Mine was on the belly while we were looking at LO, and I also had an internal to check my cervix. This was at the hospital radiology depatment done by the tech.
For those with internal, was this at your OB's office? I have to go to an imaging center for mine (my OB doesnt do them in her office). Would a tech really do an internal? Like OP, just trying to prepare myself.
Re: Question about BIG ultrasound
over the belly.
I dont' think they do internal past the first few weeks.

Why wouldn't they? It is their job.
