Nope - somehow the poor woman managed to break her FEMUR. She was in the kitchen baking and just tripped. And broke her femur. Surgery tomorrow a.m., 3-4 days in the hospital, and a week or so in an in-patient rehab facility. She'll be there for Christmas, which i know is going to really bum her out ![]()
This will also dramatically impact her ability to travel to see Nubbin after he is born. Anyone know how long it take a femur to set? On a 67 year old woman?
Man, she must have some sort of bone situation to break such a large bone on a simple slip. Ow ![]()

Your poor MIL!! Is there any dx of Ostoeporosis in her family? So many women i know of that age are undiagnosed until something like this happens.
A word to the wise my young friends....drink your milk and take PNV's regardless if you plan on conceiving again. Your bones will thank you later!

Oh wow, a femur break is hard to come by! I hope she recovers quickly and makes it through the holidays okay.
I was laid up for a while this summer with my broken ankle, and it was no fun.
Ouch, as an OT I always loved working over the holidays, we would turn our holiday music loud, share our fav memories, share recipes, and for IADL stuff I would always try and get them to make said recipe. And the best of all was the gossip the pt's would share about visiting fam
It was fun. My pts alaway said it was like a party. Def their fav room to be in.
As for you mil, epphd, a femur is usually better then a hip, so thank goodness for that. The therapists will get your mom up right away, No rest for the weary. Depending on the person's initiative and or complications, I had people home in a week or 4.
oh man.... that is not an easy bone to break... I hope she is doing well.
