Success after IF

So I've resorted to CIO

DD has been starting to refuse to sleep in the crib again, so after a very looooooong weekend without sleep, I resorted to CIO last night, after trying to get her to sleep (nursing and rocking) for 4 hours (4 HOURS!!!).  The crying lasted about 20-25 minutes or so, with the last of it being anger. She may not know the actual curse words, but that's what she was doing for the last few minutes....if it hadn't been totally heartbreaking to me, it would have been funny.

I had to do CIO again, for her nap this afternoon as well....it lasted about 2 minutes and then silence and she slept for 3 hours.  Tonight was under 7 minutes, so I guess it's getting better.  I put her in the cribm, told her that I was sorry and walked out.  Wish me luck...

I hate feeling like a mean mommy.

  • I'm sorry :( That sounds like it would be so hard (((hugs))).

  • I'm so sorry sweetie. I don't envy you at all, but it sounds like it is working. DH has been saying lately he thinks that despite our best effort and desire to follow attachment parenting, he thinks we're going to end up resorting to this since Toodle's sleep has gone down the $hitter since I'm back at work. :(

  • Oh... that must be so hard. You aren't a mean mommy! Good luck!

  • Making sure that your child is well-rested (and that you are, too) is not being a mean mommy!  Hang in there.
  • Aw hon!  I know how hard CIO is.  BUT SLEEP IS AMAZING and sleep for both of you without hours of effort and endless hours of soothing is amazing too.  I have been there x2!

You are not a mean mommy AT ALL!  You are a fantastic mom!

This.  She is asserting her will...That is all the tears mean.  She will be FINE, and you will both get much-needed sleep!  :)
