Is anyone familiar with this? I haven't had a chance to speak to my RE about it yet. The best info. I can get by googling is that it is a clotting disorder-too much clotting and that it can cause recurrent m/c. Some info. has said it is automimmune but I can't figure out how that would be. Most of what I am reading is either very limited or too technical and I am starting to get frustrated.
If you were diagnosed with protein s deficiency or are familiar with it can you please enlighten me?
I may be way off by posting here, but no one on infertility seems to know anything about it.
Thanks so much!

Re: Protein s deficiency
I and my sister are both Protein S deficient and, you're right, there is very little and limited information out there! Protein S deficiency is a little unique in that there are "levels" of deficiency - for example, my sister is more deficient than I. Do you happen to know what your Protein S level was?
According to my RE you're right, it can cause recurring miscarriages. I never had a miscarriage (just couldn't get pg at all), so she doesn't think that the Protein S deficient played a role in my IF. (Just to be on the safe side, and just because I'm a "clotter," I've been on baby asprin since I was diagnosed.) They do, however, think that it played a role in my developing HELLP Syndrome, so this pregnancy I am on Lovenox (injectible blood thinners) and, so far (knock on wood!) everything is going good.
No guarantees I'll know the answers, but feel free to email me if you have any specific questions - bmarielee at aol dot com.
ETA: Also, your RE may refer you to a hematologist. If so, he or she should be able to provide you with lots of answers
Thanks so much for responding. I feel better now. I was afraid it meant no future pregnancies and complicated treatments.I was really starting to get worried. One of the pages I read mentioned"silent killer" and I freaked out a bit! (I think that was referring to DVT,though)
I don't know what my level is. My RE called me at home while i was at work and he was in meetings all day. Plenty of time for me to get in trouble on the internet.....lol!
Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months! Thanks for calming me down
