At least I think that's they are talking about. They both say that whenever they change DS diaper, they have to push back the skin to clean it and it shouldn't be like that since he is circ'ed. I guess my nephew didn't have this issue, otherwise my sister wouldn't have said anything. My nephew's foreskin was always pulled back, it never retracted. DS's does. Kind of looks like the top of a pig in a blanket. I push the blanket back, but it keeps coming back and covering the hotdog.
My mom/sister think if the issue (if there is one) isn;t taken care of (not too sure what that means) that DS will have problems later on- like cleaning himself (I swear this is what they said).
I don't want DS to have "down there" issues. But I thought maybe once he got older, maybe his penis wouldn't look the way it does now. Maybe it grows and that pushes the skin further back? I have no clue. I knew nothing about boys until my nephew came along and of course I don't remember anything about his penis when he was 9 months old.
I am going to talk to the Pedi about it at his next appt.
Re: Here we go again. Mom/sister want me to talk to Pedi about DS's circ.
Sounds like they may have not clipped quite enough skin. This happened to my nephew as well and the Drs told my sis they could "re-do" it at a year. They chose not to since the procedure is more painful at a year than as a baby.
Is it okay that I chuckled when you said this?
I don't think there is anything wrong with asking the pedi about it. I presume it wasn't your pedi that did the circ. As such you should get a solid opinion as to whether it will be an issue. It sounds like a legit concern, and like you said, you'd rather know now than find out later that it was something you could have possibly done. GL.
My son is over 3 now but if I'm recalling correctly his penis was like what you're describing when he was younger. I remember my nanny saying something about it but when I asked the pedi he said it wasn't a big deal and now that my son is older his skin is pulled back every time I change his diaper. Now if I could just get him out of the diapers...........but that's a different problem completely!
