Choco-Covered Acorns
1 c butter
5 squares (1 oz each) semi-sweet chocolate, melted
2/3 c sugar
3 egg yolks
1 tsp almond extract
2 1/2 cups flour
4 - 5 drops green food coloring
Cream the butter and sugar. Stir in egg yolks and then the almond extract. Add flour, stirring until all ingredients are blended. Add green food coloring to make dough a pretty light green.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Pinch off small balls of dough, roll between the palms of your hands and pinch ends to make an acorn shape (pointed at the bottom). Place on a greased and floured cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake for about 10 minutes, until shininess has disappeared and cookie is solid.
Remove cookies from pan and cool. Dip wide end of cookie in melted chocolate. Place on waxed paper until chocolate hardens. Makes about 50-60 cookies.
Re: Cookie recipe exchange: Choco-covered Acorns
I used to...I have to see if I can dig it up. These are seriously sooo good...they taste like they came from a bakery. People are always like, "You MADE these?"
