Success after IF

I'm freaking out...

My DH is going back to work...TOMORROW NIGHT...

He was supposed to be off with me until January 1st, and now that's not going to happen.  I just found out he is going to work four 12 hour night shifts this week...

Caroline isn't sleeping at night...basically all she does is scream and nurse...and now I get to do it by myself for the next four nights.

Holy sh!t...

Re: I'm freaking out...

  • oh no! I'm sorry!!  Do you have someone around you that could help out one of those nights?
Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever! • okay...take a deep breath mama..you can do this..it will be ok...I freaked out the same way when dh had to go back but we made it through and so will you...have you figured out the source of the screaming at night? have you tried nursing laying down? how do you feel about bedsharing? it made things much easier for us at night but its not for everyone...good luck
  • Deep breath. You can do this.

Ugh, honestly, I remember being scared sh!tless when my DH went back....but I did make it through and every day get better and better (not always easier, but better ; )

You can do it and my guess is that she is going to start sleeping much better in the next few nights.  Those first 3 weeks were a doosy with lots of cluster feeding.

    Hang in there!!

  • I just wanted to say you will be ok!  We were in at similar situation DH was on night shifts when K was 2 weeks old and she was a screamer who refused to sleep in her crib or pnp.  I was so nervous the 1st night but I was proud of myself that I survived all alone and it was not as bad as I thought it would be.  You will be fine!!!

  • Thanks for all the replies...we've talked about it, and I'm going to try to sleep as much as I can today and tomorrow so I can stay up with her and not be a crazy person.

The sleep deprivation is just unreal...I knew there would be sleepless nights, but I thought I could deal with them a little better.

    We'll be fine...hopefully...
