Pregnant after a Loss

We have a heartbeat!!! (and a vent)

So my second ultrasound was today and it went really good baby wise but I wasn't to pleased with the ultrasound tech.  I haven't ever been there before because we switched drs.  The u/s was actually at an imaging center though.  I loved my old drs office it was just too far away.  She did not say hardly 2 words - I had to ask if things were looking ok and she said-yeah.  Then I had to ask to see the screen cause it was turned so only she and my hubby could see it.  But overall everything is fine.  As long as this LO is growing strong and healthy I will deal with people that are inconsiderate.  I am not normally one to get annoyed with people THAT easily but I guess since we have had 2 m/c i thought that people would just act a little nicer towards us.  You would think as soon as she saw things looking good she would have been excited FOR us and told us but- nope.  Anyways I am extremely happy to have seen and heard the heartbeat.  It makes me feel a LITTLE better about this pregnancy.  I'm just so glad that things are going good so far.  And I pray that it continues this way.  Next appt isn't til Jan 4.

  • Congrats on the great u/s. I have found that imaging centers aren't as good at including you in early u/s's. I have had several at the imaging center my OB uses when they can't get you in. One u/s the tech never said/showed me anything. When she was done all she said was they would send the results to my OB and they would call me with the results. I worried for hours before my OB called to tell me everything looked awesome. I was so upset I wasn't offered a chance to see my baby or given any pictures. I think they try not to provide much information so that they can't say anything wrong.

  • Congrats! Sorry about the tech- I'm sure that was frustrating. But if it was at an imaging center I'm sure they were behaving a little differently. I've found that the techs directly associated w/ my dr.'s office are very friendly and supportive, but I think of them almost as nurses who are part of the office. I think those at imaging centers must get concerned about giving misinformation/being blamed for something- there's got to be reasons why they seem disconnected. Just a guess.

But continued best wishes for a H&H 9 months!

  • When we had DD we had the choice of going the hospital or to an imaging center for the ultrasound.  The difference was that at the hospital, the ultrasound would be attended by a doctor, who would immediately tell you what they were seeing, whereas at the imaging center a tech would do it and then we would have to wait for an OB to give us the report because the techs aren't supposed to comment on what they're seeing.  We went to the hospital and had to walk FOREVER through winding corridors and park a mile away but it was worth it to feel like an active participant in the ultrasound and not have to wait on pins and needles to be called with the result.

  • Alot of times the tech's aren't allowed to tell you anything in the early u/s's. I've had some bad experiences with techs as well. One of them accused me of lying about vag bleeding to get an u/s b/c when she did the intro vag one there wasn't any blood on the probe (It had been 5 hours since I had had the bleeding).
