Britax Marathon, hands down! My daughter is really comfy in it and it has great ratings. I got the first one new, and then for DH's car, we got one in excellent condition off of Craigslist for under $100.
Really? Already? When do people usually switch? I was thinking it was much later. (Not judging your decision. Just curious. I have NO idea!)
Personally, we switched right around when DD was about 17 lbs...she was really tall though, and I felt like her head was too tall for her infant seat. I think at 20lbs they can't be in the infant seat or something like that. 1 year or 20 lbs....
I know, I'm surprised I'm looking already too! She's already over 15 lbs. and I think in about a month she'll be too heavy for me to want to lug around anymore. I just want to start looking now and see what kind of deals are out there.

Wow, we waited until DD was 18 months old and was at the max height! Her infant seat fit in the car so well we hated to switch, and we wanted the expiration date to be as late as possible on the convertible seat. There are quite a few great convertible seats -- a lot boils down to personal preference. Good luck!

We also love our Britax Marathon. We chose that model for the height and weight limits (Ava is above the 99th for height and at the 90th for weight). She outgrew the height limits on her infant seat around 7 months, I think. Albeebaby.com usually has great deals on discontinued patterns.
FYI I just bought DD hers. I'm not planning on using it anytime soon but I got a britax marathon for 150 regular price 269 at Target. I don't know if the sale is still going on.
We will be switching soon as DS is almost 20 lbs (6 months). I got the roundabout 50 from diapers.com when they had a big sale for $125. The shell is not as tall as a marathon though so he will outgrow faster. I was thinking of maybe getting a first years true fit for DH's car or evenflo triumph advance, not sure yet. Def. wait for a good sale though.

I love our Britax Marathon. Great carseat - comfy and super SAFE!
Wheee!

I'm dreading switching, but I have two Britax Boulevards waiting in the wings. Just wanted to say that I got a great deal on them from albeebaby.com so if you're thinking of going the Britax route, definitely check them out!
