A friend of mine has to have surgery next Wed. to get hers removed. I didn't know how serious or how sore you are afterwards, I just wanted to do something nice like watch her LO or bring dinner... how long after were you sore or taking it easy? I know nothing about this procedure.

I had a really rough recovery, for some reason. It was several weeks before I could really get around much, and my doc didn't clear me to go back to work for 8 weeks. I don't think that's the norm though.
ETA: My c/s were 100x easier than my appendectomy. There was really no comparison between the two.
I take care of such patients in the hospital. Pain and recovery time depends some on if you have it done laparoscopically or through an actual incision. Either way, the worst pain is in the first week or so. Full recovery is usual reached in 6-8 weeks.
Lifting is restricted so help with her child would probably very appreciated. I think a meal would be a great help too.
I was sore for a few weeks. Went back to work after 2 and wished I hadn't, or had started back at half a day.
I wasn't pg at that point (got pg amonth later, in fact) but I can only imagine that with a little one I'd have been eternally grateful for a few hours of peace, or for a cooked meal
