I am looking for any and all advice on Dallas area OBGYN docs and hospitals. I currently live in Houston but am moving to Dallas in 9 months. I really want to start TTC in Feb or Mar 2010. I have found several doctors in Houston but really know nothing about Dallas. My husband will be working in south dallas so I am assuming we will want to live anywhere from central dallas to south dallas burbs. I am willing to drive for a good doctor. I am looking for someone caring and isn't constantly 2 hours behind schedule. I am also considered high risk and would like the hospital to at least have a Level II NICU. Thanks in advance for any and all information! God Bless!
Re: OBGYN and Hopsital Recommendations
I highly recommend Dr. Nockleberg at Walnut Hill ob/gyn - they are right off 75 and Walnut Hill. She is affiliated with Dallas Presby which has a level III NICU. A colleague of mine moved here from Austin or Houstin (can't remember which) and her ob recommended Dr. Nockleberg to her as well. We both love her. Most of the time during my PG I did not have to wait long but of course there were times when she had a delivery and there was a longer wait. On average my waits ranged from 5-30 minutes but often it was just 5-15 minutes. She and one other doctor (Dr Hagood) are fairly popular at that group practice and so she books up fairly far in advance but otherwise I have no complaints. I ended up needing a c-section and she makes some of the smallest incisions (according to the nurses at the hospital) which I was thankful for b/c the recovery was already rough enough as is. My hospital stay was good - the nursing staff was great and very attentive. The food wasn't five star but it was good (I had a few things that weren't so great but overall it was good for hospital food IMO). Lastly, if you end up having trouble TTC, she does do some infertility work (up to IUIs) so you wouldn't need to see a specialist unless it went beyond that. I have found that many ob's try to help patients with infertility but do not monitor them appropriately which can be dangerous - that is not that case w/her. only down side is that since it is a group practice you may end up with another doctor delivering your baby, but you get to meet them all during your PG and really they all seem pretty nice (but of course you'd always prefer your own Dr to deliver your baby)
anyway, let me know if you have any other questions and GL once you start TTC!

I am a week from delivering and love my hospital and my dr's office. The office is right down the street from Baylor Dallas (downtown Dallas) and Baylor has a level 3 NICU. My dr's office has 4 different doctors... and I have seen all of them and they are all GREAT! Mine is Dr. Harris.

I second Dr. Harris. He's wonderful and his nurse is super nice. He bills as a regular OB, but is an IF specialist. He delivers at Baylor downtown, which has a brand new maternity wing and the aforementioned Level III NICU. I've had to wait a few times, but he was always out delivering, so I couldn't really blame him.

I *HIGHLY* reccomend Dr Patricia Harris, too. She's the Dr. Harris in the group at 1311 Washington Ave. The group is fabulous, the nurses are wonderful, and I can not say enough good things about Dr. Harris! I heart her!!! I delivered at Baylor downtown and had a great experience there, as well.
We moved when I was 7 months pregnant and I can not say enough good things about my experience with Dr. Harris, the entire practice, and Baylor.
