cause I am SERIOUSLY emotionally having a hard time with the past 24 hours...My contractions were textbook - started 15 min apart went to 10, then 8 then every 4-6 and they were intense! I needed nurses to help me breathe through them and reposition me and everything...and that went on for 30 hours!
And now...there is barely nothing, back to just one or two an hour..its like a switch flipped.
Nobody ever warned me that false labor could go on for 30 hours and progress like that and NOT really progress your cervix.
I am just mentally and physically worn out from the whole process since I was prepped for the OR for a c-section, we had discussions with the MD's about my "near term baby" and what would happen after birth...and NOW..here I am on my couch.
I am glad he or she gets to bake longer but it was a lot to take.
Even the nurses were in SHOCK that I didn't deliver!
Just thought I would share my story so in case it happens to you!
Re: I am just gonna put it out there re: false labor
That totally sucks! If it makes you feel better, I think it wasn't technically "false" labor, since you did progress. However, prodromal labor isn't any more fun to deal with!
I really hope you can get some rest and that you don't have to suffer much until you finally have your baby.
thank you
yes prodromal was a word they used cause I did progress some - I am now 2cm and 75% effaced..we will see how long this lasts!
Thanks to everyone for the awesome support!
I hate that term "false labour" too. It's not like you were fooled, you were in early labour and from what you describe, sounds like a long and painful episode, with no result. I went through it too, with DD at 34 wks, I had painful contractions every 4 min for a few hours and decided to go to L&D and spent half the night there. Not nearly as long as you. The nurses monitored my contractions and said they were pretty big and consistent so it wasn't in my head. They said it was b/c I was dehydrated and needed to rest. But the next day I was at work, they made me feel like an idiot, laughing at the new mom running to the hospital with false labour. Not fair!
