I am sure I will get some flames for this but recently, my SIL, who I like on occasion but has made some REALLY stupid decisions in her life, started dating a guy in prison. He was there for 6 DUI's and the last one sent two teenage girls to the hospital, and they were both in comas for a while. Apparently she has known him for a few years. he was transferred to a halfway house and so they began seeing eachother more. She started forcing my nephew to call him daddy even though he only knows him through halfway house visits (dad is not in the picture). he already has two kids he has nothing to do with. My nephew has enough problems as it is without putting this loser into the picture. He has a speech problem, ADHD, and he is OCD. But it seems that these days she does not care to help him with his problems, and that makes me so angry!
To get to my point. Apparently she cheated on him and he broke it off with her. Honestly I could not be more happy! She was talking about marrying him in September and was really wanting our approval which she never got from DH or myself. Above everything I want my nephew to have a normal home life, and I don't think having him there would be good for him whatsoever. Okay, thanks for letting me share/vent/be happy.
Re: NBR: Oh happy day! Possibly flameable
Shoot, I have two SILs and if they pulled something like that I would do the same thing. No flames here at all. I do believe that love is blind and only the nieghbors can see the real problems, but she must have just been oblivious and naive to the whole situation. I hope your nephew gets all the help he needs and I hope your SIL can find a good daddy figure too.

man, you know things are bad when the jailbird in the relationship makes the more sound relationship decision.
good luck with your hot mess of a SIL!
Pregnancy brain....I thought the title said 'happy birthday'!
Well, I think it's bad for any parent to make a child call another person (besides their parent of course) mom or dad...not cool! Good thing they broke up, but don't start rejoycing just yet...they may back together, you never know.
I def feel for your nephew. Some people don't make the best decisions, but hopefully she'll learn from this...we all have to live and learn.
Yeah, that is my biggest fear because they have broken up before, but neither one of them have ever cheated on the other so I think they are done for good...hopefully!
6 DUI's! Do you know the statistics for being caught driving while drunk?
-The majority of people arrested on their first drunk driving charge have driven drunk approximately 87 times prior to their arrest.
jeesh!
Hopefully this is for good!
