i'm supposed to go for my first appointment next tuesday [6w3d] and was so excited about the possibility of seeing LO and a heartbeat. if the doctor said it was too early that's one thing, but DH just vetoed an u/s until january. our healthcare is changing at the first of the year and we'll have full coverage, but for now we just have an HSA with a $3K deductible, so we can't exactly afford $700 for an u/s.

 if we had gotten an u/s, we were going to use it to spill the beans on christmas. 

not a huge deal, but i'm still having a pity party about it.

Are you sure it's 700?  I had one prior to getting pg. that was only 200 or so, trans-vag and external.

well, i guess $700 is a lot when you won't have to pay in another couple of weeks... right now i have no insurance, when it finally kicks in and i have my very first appointment i will be over 10 weeks.

According to my benefits statement, my first one was 230 (at 8 and a half weeks) and my second was 330 (19 weeks).  Both numbers are still a lot.  I know the suspense drives you crazy first trimester.  The next few weeks will fly by.  Good luck!

I would have a pity party too. January isn't very far though and some people only get one ultrasound at 20 weeks. So at least insurance would give you one sooner!
