Re: whine wednesday..
Your house is so gorgeous! I'm sorry you aren't loving it
I remember seeing pics and I was envious... that is too bad you are having issues.
Our house is 20 years old and the builder was super cheap so there is very little insulation etc, there are leaks everywhere (plumbing and heat), very frustrating. Sorry you have to deal with that. Do you think you'll move? I have issues with my house and I beat myself up.. sort of love/hate..
Re: * Cutemin *
Thanks. When I started convincing DH to move one of my big standing points in convincing him we could afford a bigger house was that a newer house would be more energy efficient and our utility bill would be about the same. So now I am totally bummed to find out that Brianna's room is FREEZING, I closed the door for about 15 minutes this morning and it went down to 63 in there while the house thermostat is set at 70. The gas fireplace isn't insulated and is open to the outside and you can feel the cold air coming from it, and the stupid fireplace doesn't work. The front door was painted and when the sun beats on it in the morning through the glass storm door, the paint stinks. It stinks BAD like burning plastic through the whole house with the door shut! The windows are cheap and if you open them, bugs come in the house around the screen. There is a shooting range about a mile away and the sound travels and some how gets amplified off the driveway and it sounds like it is right in Bri's room, also every sound outside can be heard in there loud and clear. It isn't unusual to hear voices over her monitor either, I am pretty sure it is from outside. It is really strange. But I can't switch her room with the office because it is too small. I am considering moving her into the master with us. We had to install a humidfier to the furnace. We just ordered a water backup sump pump ($300) after the power went out the other night and we had to bail the drain for two hours, worst part is there are no sinks in the basement since we have first floor laundry so we had to carry 5 gallon buckets across the basement and UP a flight of STAIRS! There is something not quite right with the plumbing in the master bath and when we flush the toilet the pipes hammer, LOUDLY. DH tried to fix it but after he put a huge hole in the wall realized that he couldn't. I hate the electric range, I keep burning food because I cannot seem to control the heat, and can't put in gas lines easily because the last owners drywalled a ceiling in the basement. I could go on and on...
It is just a ton of little things that we just didn't expect with a 6 year old house. Now that Tyler is talking about ghosts in his closet, I am kind of freaked because I have been hearing bumps in the night since we moved in. I have just been blaming it on the cat and the fact that sound is amplified against the hardwood floors and two story entry. Now it is keeping me up at night, crazy I know!! We wont be moving though. No way we could afford it. Nor would I ever be able to talk my husband into all the work involved! And I am glad we moved even though our old house felt so much more like a home, maybe this one will be more comforting when I finally get around to painting the walls something other than the current white. Our old house was old, poorly built, and not quite big enough for our family of 4. And I kind of wonder if there was something environmental there that effected Tyler. I say that only because Ty get EI because of a sensory issue. 5 out of 5 other boys within a couple houses also have developmental problems, one is autistic and another one is yet to be diagnosed other than to be label 'emotionally disfunctional'. It just seems a bit more than coincidental.
