Dishwasher question

So, we bought a portable dishwasher (Maytag EnergyStar), to make bottle washing and life in general easier.  Just in the past couple washes the nipples and some of the bottles are coming out with it seems like a light film to them.  I handwashed them all (which defeats the purpose of having a dishwasher), but I wondered if there was someway to prevent this?  We are using the Dr. Brown's dishwasher baskets for all of the parts and putting them on the top rack, as well as the bottles.  Any ideas?

Re: Dishwasher question

  • I don't, but just wanted to say your little guy is so cute!  And that I wish I had a dishwasher...  ;-)

  • I never put bottles in the dishwasher, and have gotten a film on the nipples from handwashing too. I think its from hard water. Boiling them seems to help.
  • I don't know of a way to avoid it...but man, I felt like I spent an hour a day washing bottles. It was terrible! I would always wash everything baby related after running them through the dishwasher.

I HIGHLY recommend drop ins....OMG they are so easy. And BPA free. You just have to wash the nipple...so we keep a small nipple brush right by the sink and use that in between each feeding. So we just have one bottle and one nipple right now.

  • I can't wash my bottles in the dishwasher, they always come out nasty.. At least they did when I used the first years breastflow ones.. I did put the dropins nipples and holders in there once and they seemed to come out fine. It doesn't make sense because the rest of my dishes always come out great! I ended up handwashing, which is why i switched to the drop ins once we started FF full time... i just have to wash the nipples and then I just wash off the holders once every couple days.
