How many of you held on tight to those bed rails? I damn near broke the bed apart lol every time I had a contraction I gripped on the bed rail with all my might.
I did for just one contraction, because I am a hard stick with IVs and they had to put it on top of my hand in a really painful spot. When I gripped the rails the first time, I bruised my hand really bad.
i had the hand rails that popped up from below...i think it's called a birthing bar or something else? i dunno...whatever it was i held on to it like a liferaft.
I remember thinking to keep my hands relaxed (this is one thing I remember from Bradley class) but it didn't help lol! I'm pretty sure it was the only body part I was able to relax!
Nope I was holding myself up off the bed after they finally made me lay down. The pressure of sitting/laying down made my contractions ten times worse, so I used my hands to hold myself up!
I didn't really have time! I remember gripping the wheelchair and by time I got up to the delievery room I was pretty much pushing! So I was grabbing my DH's hands to push! Yep 2 hrs and 5 mins from start to finish and I was only at the hospital for 32 mins before DD was born!

I did most of my laboring in the tub and a few days later I was trying to figure out why my right bicep was so sore. It was from practically lifting myself out of the water every time I had a contraction.
I actually gave birth on a birthing stool and had nothing but my DH's hands to hold on to. I haven't asked if I almost broke his fingers and he has been smart enough to never complain if I did...

My labor was so insane that I don't even really remember gripping anything at all. I just remember screaming VERY loudly at each push. I've always had extremely intense period cramps, and honestly most of my contractions while I was on pitocin felt just like that.
Once it was time to push, however; is a completely different story. I remember things like "Holy #$@!! I can NOT do this anymore!" and "OMG! This feels like an alien!!" I feel bad for everyone involved with my delivery lol.
