s/o friends fb status post: meanest comment you got while trying to lose the pp weight

We went to a wedding 4 weeks pp.  It was out of town and I was talking to my cousin about how I didn't like the dress I brought to wear.  She asked if I'd like to borrow something from her and I got excited because she was about the same size i was at that point, probably about a 12 (granted without the giant pp pooch) and pretty stylish.

She pulled out a size 0 dress and handed it to me.

I have never been a 0 in my life.  At my skinniest, maybe a 2 if the dress ran large.  I was not at my skinniest right before getting pregnant, up about 13 lbs from it.

She totally did it to rub it in that I was way larger than I'd ever been.  She's a *** like that sometimes.

Did make me wonder why the heck she had a size 2 dress though.  She hasn't been that small in way over 10 years.

  • I dressed up like a pregnant lady for Halloween in my old mat clothes. A few people didn't notice the difference   Crying
  • That is weird.  I fortunately haven't gotten any horrible comments so far, even though I am currently up ::huge groan:: 50lbs from my personal skinniest.  I am my own worst critic.  I feel like I will never look good again.

  • the a-hole at the front desk of the gym said "huh, it's been a while since you've been here" when I went in for the first time last week.  I don't know if he was implying that I was lazy, fat or both, but really either way it wasn't a great comment to make.  i wanted to b!tch slap him.

  • I was 8 months PP after my DD and still up 15 lbs and 2 sizes (all of it shed once my DD was weaned, but it held on for dear life while I was still nursing).

My DH's grandparents had a special anniversary party and had a photographer there to take portraits. My DH's aunt put me in back because she said I'd be more comfortable there. I responded, "because I'm the tallest?" She replied "No, because then no one will see your body and in a few years you can just say that your face was retaining water".

She didn't mean it in a mean way, I genuinely believe she was trying to make me feel better because I was sensitive... but GEEZ!

  • this happened in the hospital-  literally 4 hrs after I delivered.  DH had brought chocolates for the nurses, but my delivery was so fast (90 minutes from arrival at the hosp) we never had a chance to take them out.  So we put them out for the recovery nurses and our families who were all there.  DH offered me one and step-MIL told me 'not to eat that junk so the weight will go away faster'

  • 5 weeks pp I was pushing the double stroller when a woman asked when I was due.

She thought I was a KU nanny.

  • The first thing MIL and GIL (grandmother in law??) said when they saw me less than a week pp was - "why aren't you wearing a girdle?!?!"
  • The meanest comment was when we were bringing DD home and FIL says "are you sure there isn't another baby in there?"

I don't think he realized that your stomach doesn't exactly shrink down immediately after birth.  I let it go since he has never said anything mean to me before and MIL shot him an "ONYD" look right away.

  • Mine was while I was pg. Just starting to show around Easter and was excitedly mentioning this to DH's family (dad, g'ma, g'pa) when Grandpa pipes up and says "tee heee, well, at your size, it'll be a while longer before you start to show. Bigger women tend to hide it well".
Um, yeah. The Bump be too crazy for pics of my kid.
  • The day ds was born, dh and I took a walk around the pp unit.  We ran into people that we did our childbirth ed. classes with, and they told me how great the l&d nurses were, and that I would see when I had my baby.

Ok, this totally doesn't count!  Who doesn't still look pregnant the day they give birth?!  I still looked about 8 months pregnant, maybe even more so due to all the swelling, lol.
