OMG good luck! I did one with DD a week ago and it was a nightmare! The instruction had me make all the frosting at the same time, and if it could do it again, I would just make enough to glue the walls and roof together, then let it dry before proceeding. I had icing everywhere, the house caved in 4 times all while a 2 year old was clinging to my leg "mommy, is it my turn yet? you need to share!" Ugh.
In the end, it actually looks pretty good! I assembled the parts, frosted the roof (added some coconut) and DD decorated with all the candies.
Love: 8/2000 | Marriage: 7/2005 | Baby makes three: 3/28/2007 | And one more makes...SIX?
Steal my kids picture or pretend they are yours, I will find where you live and ship all of their dirty diapers to your doorstep. Promise.
Not that this will help... but I make gingerbread houses with my kindergarteners every year (22 students this year) and it is pure chaos!
We use graham crackers, empty clean milk cartons, royal frosting and candy to make these wonderful creations. I end up leaving as soon as the bell rings from pure exhaustion and that was before I got pregnant!
**the milk cartons are to attach the walls to something sturdy, because the kids push so hard on the walls and roof when adding candy that it always breaks. The cartons worked well last year!

I still totally think you should do it I got the kit at a craft store and it was from Wilton.
