Stomach hard, tight and tender...normal? (37 wks)

I am just about 37 weeks and woke up this morning feeling this way.  It was a bit painful this morning just moving around, walking, etc.  The top part of my stomach has been hard all day and right around my belly button and lower right part of my belly it is tender.  I am not sure if this is something that is normal at this late stage or if this is something to be concerned about.  I am just very uncomfortable all around.  I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this.  TIA!

A few times now I've had this lovely occurance...the rock hard lump in various locations moves a bit for me though so I always make sure to nicely say hi to my baby girl as I rub her a little hard in hopes of making her sink in a bit...

I just assumed the tenderness was from the very stretched out feeling I was having...

  • My bump is super hard most of the time now.  I just figured it's because my bump is not very big, so it's just baby taking up as much room as she can. Especially at night, you can see butt, back and feet lumps on my belly.  Totally freaked my friends out over the weekend when we went to visit an out-of-town gf for her birthday!
  • I notice if I sit a certain way for too long or if I stand/walk for too long my stomach gets really hard, tight and tender. If I relax with my feet up for a bit my stomach "loosens" up.

  • hi ladies, I  thought that was my baby boy too, but the doctor told me that was a contraction mainly braxton hicks if there is no pain. this happens to me right underneath my ribs for a few minutes and if i sit, lay down or rest from what i'm doing it usually goes away after a bit.

I'd be more inclined to believe that it was a BH if it'd go away within even 10mins....No matter what I do my rock hard bump doesn't go away until I feel LO roll so I really can't imagine it being anything else in my case.  First time it happened I was all about the BH theory though!  It took 3 or so times before I became convinced it was LO instead.  Who knows...could easily be a combo platter too...ugh...I think this is the worst part for me for pg...not *knowing* what things are and the why's...grrr, so frustrating!
