I'm visiting from 2nd tri. I posted the below post there, but also wanted to post it here in case any of you lovely bumpies had insight, advice, resources, etc. TIA!

So I'm really considering having a natural home birth with a midwife as long as my pregnancy continues to be low risk. I am starting to do some research, but I'm interested in who has done this, as well as a few other questions that I probably wouldn't get 100% honest answers from a website.
It would be really great if anyone could point me in the right direction, or even speak to me personally about their home birth experience.
Thanks ladies.
Re: 2nd tri
I know some really bad stories about home births. I'm not saying don't do it, just really understand the risk.
Also, keep an open mind to a point. I didn't plan on going into PTL at 29 weeks, so I would have been heart broken if I had my mind set on one particular way.
Good luck finding the right info so you can really educate yourself.
I don't know anyone who's given birth outside of a hospital, but for finding a mdwife, you could start by asking your OB's office. I know there are some offices our there who partner w/ midwives. Other than that, perhaps contact a birthing center. Ditto to shortyred about understanding the risks- not trying to be discouraging, but there's a heck of a lot that can happen. I guess as long as you've got an experienced midwife and you're close to a hospital just in case. . .
GL in your search!

Thank you!
None of you were discouraging at all. I appreciate the responses. I'm still early on in my research, and I will keep in open mind so as not to be devastated if I have a birth plan I think is set in stone.
Shortyred, I haven't read any of your updates, but I hope you and LO are doing well! I know you've had a rough time lately.
There is a great homebirth story on pacingthepanicroom.blogspot.com
I'd encourage you to read it!
I'm still in the hospital (2.5 weeks later) and they have no idea when LO will come. It'll be okay though. Everyone is prepared on what to do and what to expect. I'm glad I'm in a hospital.
