No trigger with IUI???

So my RE's office just called and said for me to come in tomorrow for my IUI, but she said not to trigger as I had a surge on my own. This same thing happened last time. Does anyone know what this means? Is this very rare or something? I seems like everyone else has to trigger. It seems fishy to me.

Thanks!

Re: No trigger with IUI???

  • I did not use a trigger for my IUI. We are MFI and I O on my own.

  • This IUI cycle I started to ovulate on my own but RE told me to still go ahead and do the Ovidrel trigger and then he did the IUI 24 hours after instead of 36. If I started to ovulate on my own I don't understand why I would need the trigger. But oh well. Hopefully other IUI girls will chime in about their experience.

  • The trigger can help improve the egg maturation if your LH surge is not robust, but it's usually not necessary if you ovulate on your own.  You have to confirm ovulation with b/w and a sonogram to be sure you completed ovulation though.

  • I didn't use trigger with either of my IUI cycles either.  The doctor said that since I surge on my own and he monitors it well and I used CBEFM, we knew it was all working like it was supposed to.

My 2nd cycle just resulted in BFP, so it seemed to be ok! :)
