Nursing Bras and Birth Announcements

For all you elders...any good nursing bras that you would suggest? I have looked online and they all look about the same to me. Do you think it is a good idea to try them on in the store? Also the same question with birth announcements..anyone found any really cute ones????

Re: Nursing Bras and Birth Announcements

  • I've never sent birth announcements so I can't help there.  Nursing bra's I've had good luck with Motherhood maternity.  And nursing tanks Glamour Mom is great.  However, I only bought nursing bra's with my first baby.  I found out pretty quickly that it was easier for me to just pop myself out of the top than it was to bother unlatching the flap so at that point spending extra for the actual nursing bra seemed silly.  With DD #2 I never used any at all and just wore regular bra's.   I will probably do the same this time.

  • I went to the Breastfeeding Clinic and Store that is at the hospital. I was measured by a lactation consultant and tried on different brands. Everyone swears by the Bravado, but I thought they were horrible. I ended up going with the  Medela nursing camisole (tank top) and got three. The LC said to come back 1 week postpartum to get measured for the actual bras because it's hard to anticipate your size. Some websites say to plan to go up one cup size, but that's not always the case. My best friend's breasts went from 36B in the third tri to a 38DD and has STAYED there after 6 months of BF'ing. The rest of her has slimmed down quite a bit, so she definitely was not the 'norm' - now she's stuck with a bunch of wrong size nursing bras that she can't return. Sooo, to make things short;)...Get measured somewhere that specializes in specialty bras (nursing bras, breast cancer patient bras, etc.), get a few nursing tanks, and then go back for the bras themselves about 1-2 PP.

  • Dunno about nursing bras, but they have great birth announcements at tinyprints.com.  Very cute, a bit pricey, but i find that it's worth it...i'm only getting 60 of them. Vistaprint has some that are more budget friendly as well.
  • I loved my Bravado nursing bras (bravadodesigns.com)- they held up really well, I will be wearing them again with this baby.

We ordered photo birth announcements from tinyprints.com - they were adorable!

eta: the body silk seamless bravado nursing bras are my favorite.
