Carseat NOT fitting...

So, I'm a rookie and bought the Britax Chaperone off the internet without looking at dimensions to make sure that it would fit into our vehicles.  It fits into my Honda Ridgeline without any problems, but it's darn near impossible to make it fit into my DH's Corolla.  Should we get another carseat for his car, or should we just make it work with the one car?

Realistically, if we just use the truck all the time (which we do anyway), should we be OK, or should we just buy another carseat?

I don't have an issue either way, I'm the idiot who bought the carseat without checking out its ability to fit into my vehicles, so I'll pay for the mistake... DER!  This was one of my first hand to forehead moments of this pregnancy.

Re: Carseat NOT fitting...

  • We're just planning on getting one car seat and no extra base or anything.  We use my car 99.9% of the time when we're together and on the rare occasions that DH has the baby without me, we'll just switch cars.  If this really becomes a problem we'll get another seat when the baby's here.  GL!

  • Personally I would get a small and inexpensive seat for DH's car.  I always worry that I may run out alone and god forbid break down or get in an accident.  How would he go to get you with baby?
  • Our infant seat fits much better in my car than my husband's car. I'm comfortable with that though since I can't see many reasons that we would need to use my husband's car. We could get it in there in an emergency.

  • We got one car seat and base for my car. We normally take my car the most anyways, (especially in the winter, it has the heated seats). If I need to leave LO with DH or he needs to take LO he will just take my car and I will take his.

  • we have only one car seat.  if dh goes out alone with dd, he takes my car.  if i go out without dd, i take his.  vice versa.  yeah it's "my car" and "his car" but they're "our" cars and it doens't matter who drives whose
  • If LO won't really be in DH's car that often why not get a convertible seat? Then you can stick it in DH's car rear-facing if you absolutely need to, but if you barely use it you won't have wasted money on an infant carrier since you'll be able to use the convertible seat for much longer (in BOTH vehicles).
  • This is good information. I have a Ridgeline and DH has a Corolla. I've been looking at that carseat too. Guess I'll look for something smaller.
