I had been on here this morning asking the ever popular, should I call question. I am so glad I did. We arrived at the hospital and I told them that the baby was not active like normal. They did a non stress test and the baby didn't impress them. So then they ordered an ultrasound, which was called a Bio Physical Profile. I had never heard of one of these, and it sounded so serious, so I had a breakdown in the hospital thinking the baby was in danger. Thank God, the baby is okay. They're saying the baby is in distress due to the stress on my body from the contractions. I am so blessed and grateful that the little one is okay. I was terrified. We're back home, just waiting out the rest of the pregnancy and I am keeping an eye on all of the movements I feel. They seem to have returned to almost normal. I just will not feel completely confident until this becomes an outside baby. Thanks for those of you who reccomended I call and not wait.
Re: Labor and Delivery
Wow, glad everything is okay.
Good to know - I'm a little nervous because I have felt baby today but he's not super-active like he normally is. Is that what you were experiencing?
I never know whether to be concerned or not.
I was not feeling anything. I felt maybe 2-3 movements within a few hours. I had tried the water, juice, food, lying on the side and kick-counting. It just wasn't normal activity but everything looks great. I was so nervous, but I need to understand babies have stressful and/or lazy days too.
My LO moves all.the.time. He never stops. A few nights ago I was feeling nothing...I had some movements at lunchtime (around 1:00) and then later in the evening (9:00-ish) I started freaking out realizing it had been 8 hours since I'd felt him.
I tried everything- an ice pack, cold water, cold juice, lying on my side, etc. I did kick counts and got 7 light movements in an hour. Not normal for my little guy. So I called my OB who said 7 was good enough and if I go 12-16 hours with nothing to call back. I tried to relax and get some sleep.
The next morning he was totally back to normal and has been fine ever since! It's scary the first time an active baby has a mellow day.
Aww. Thank you for sharing that with me. I am glad I'm not alone. I feel much better knowing that it happens and doesn't necessarily mean there is a problem. Yes it is extremely scary. I'm glad your baby is back to normal movements.
