s/o of feeding toddlers

Is a metal spoon a bad idea for a toddler spoon?  Is the idea that the alternatives more gental on the teeth/gums?

Sorry if it's this is a dumb question, just want to make sure I'm not missing something.  G had been using my sterling teething bell (before I lost it in my car) and it was great bc it would get chilled in the fridge and be nice and cold.  Also, I was planning on eventually using the sterling toddler set that was a gift.

FWIW DD only has 2 teeth and she doesn't bite or gnaw the rubber infant spoon we use now-.  So when is it ok for LO's to use metal spoons?

  • I don't know if it's "okay" but Justin loves to gnaw on metal spoons. The rubber ones he will sink his teeth (he has 12) into if I'm feeding him and it's a game to get it out of his little monster jaw.

  • I'm with MrsWhite...don't know if it's "right" but we started giving G spoons that we "chilled" in a glass of water around 9 months old for teeting, especially at restaurants.  It kept him content and he loved it!  Now, I give him his toddler spoons at meal time, but I feed him from my spoon as well.
