Dr Sears Delayed Vaccine - Atl friendly Doc's

Does anyone know of pediatricians in the Atlanta area that are friendly towards Dr.Sear's Alternative vaccine schedule? I see the list on his website - short - and wanted to see if there were others.

If I need to I will make the drive but if there are good Docs intown I would want to try them first.

I have heard of Dr Kute - a little far of a drive for me.  My mommy friends tell me that a long drive is fine when your child isn't sick but when they are you don't want to drive 45 minutes to get there.

I live in the Buckhead area, ITP bear 285/75

Vinings, Smyrna, and Buckhead are preferred locations but like I said, I will make the drive to get to the right doc for my kiddo.

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated!

  • Just call and talk to practices around you. My doctor is not a big supporter of delayed vaccines but he recognizes that it is my choice as a parent and we were able to come up with a schedule that works for us both. Some practices will not work with any deviation from the AAP schedule and they will tell you that upfront. Many practices will work with you even if they don't advertise as being delayed vaccine friendly. I think you should find a practice within 20 minutes or so of where you live. Mostly because I agree that a long drive with a sick child would be miserable. Plus you will want the Dr's Office you choose to work with the children's hospital location closest to you in case of emergency.

The office we go to is in Dunwoody so it probably won't help you but just in case we go to Dunwoody Pediatrics and see Dr Gfroerer.

  • Our pedi encourages regular schedule but supports our decision to only do two vaccines at a time. Find a pedi you like, they can't force you to follow their vaccine schedule. They can charge for additional visits if your insurance won't cover.?
  • We didn't delay but we did break the shots in half and my pedi had no issues with it at all. Instead of getting 6-7 shots in one visit, we got 3 and would come back the following month for the rest. I agree with the PP about just talking to doctors and feeling them out.

My doc does this, they are located at Peidmont.

  • My pediatrician is open to Dr. Sears delayed vaccine schedule and I love his practice.. I see Dr. Cabrera

  • We use Kute - I think she's worth the drive. But Dr. Howland-Sells at Intown Pediatrics is wonderful, as well.  Our insurance didn't cover her so we had to switch to Kute.  We used to live by the Galleria and it was a 15min straight shot down there (75 to 20 to Boulevard).  Very fast.  She even takes (though doesn't agree w/) non-vaxing kids.
