cervix a "little soft" - question

so I went to the hospital yesterday because the BH would not stop, nor would the mild cramping.  They found nothing of course, I was embarassed, but better safe than sorry.  They are chalking it up to gastrointestinal issues - having a lot of loose bms (sorry TMI)  Once I took the immodium I feel a lot better - that is the good news.  My dr. happened to be there so he checked my cervix and said it was a little soft, but still thick and closed.  He seemed unphased at the softness, as did my inlaws (who are OBGYNs) but of course that is not stopping me from worrying lol.  Anyone have this?  can the cervix be soft for a while before labor?  the last time I had a u/s my cervix measured at 4, but that was 3 weeks ago.  my next is next week.  i don't think I will be calm until I see the measurement that day.  Any sharing would be appreciated!  TIA

Re: cervix a "little soft" - question

  • Mine was soft at 29 weeks when I was checked during PTL. Still soft but not dilated at all and still long/closed.

  • Mine was soft at 28w.  I was put on Procardia and told to take it easy at that point because I was having a lot of BH's (6-8 an hour at times).  I was put on BR after going to the hospital for PTL at 32w, came off of BR and Procardia at 36w and I'm still pg.  My OB wasn't concerned with a soft cervix as long as I wasn't dilating (he wasn't even that concerned when my cervix started shortening, said it's pretty normal with a twin pg.
  • Mine was soft at 23 weeks and measured 2.5.  I made it to 36w2d before being induced for blood pressure issues.
