they said his language is delayed (duh), but they have to score his evaluation to find out if he qualifies-- he may have some oral motor difficulties that would put him over the edge.
they were kind of judgey about why our 3 y/o goes to preschool 5 mornings a week (because we couldn't make up our minds about which nursery school and sent him to 2) and they didn't seem to understand our working situation. Um, I work 3 part days at the university-- not a hard one (but I guess it threw them off b/c its not totally WOHM or SAHM). And they kept asking me questions about jack's behavior at daycare drop off. Um, he doesn't go to daycare. We have a nanny. It just felt like they weren't LISTENING to me.
Re: EI evaluation: mixed results.
I hope you get it straightened out.
I fired our EI people. They were useless.

What's the issue with 5 days a week preschool? DD is going to preschool 5 mornings a week next year. I am a SAHM. I would be annoyed about that. Do they judge kids in daycare? Strange.
I also had a poor experience with EI for Kate. The PT she received was not frequent enough and I didn't feel like it did her much good. I wound up doing private therapy through our insurance. Maybe check that out if he does wind up qualifying if you don't like the EI plan you get. With the budget cuts here, they said she qualified for a gross motor delay and would get PT once a month. I don't know what good that would have done. She got PT once a week for a $5 co-pay instead.
thanks for the advice!
I do actually think they judged daycare. they also thought we lived somewhere else. They called from the parking lot of a section 8 apartment complex that is a few blocks away. I explained that we live in a townhouse development down the road, but they seemed judgey from that point on. It was weird.
I am so sorry you did not have a positive experience. DD had EI and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about them. Most of the time, they came to daycare and I never felt judged once. I did have a problem at first with one of the therapists and her schedule, but we worked it out and she is a friend now.
Throughout my health experiences, I have really learned to be an advocate for myself and now, especially, for Pearl.
