Thanksgiving PIP

Long story short, FIL likes to take in the strays during the holidays.  This TG, he took in 7 - which is very nice, don't get me wrong.  However, due to too many people for the TG table, FIL asked DH/DS/Me to sit by ourselves in a DOORWAY facing a wall.  You'll have to look closely at the top right corner of the first picture. Yup, that's where we sat for TG.

    oh my are you serious...

    that's kind of funny- being stuck at the "kids" table and in the corner like you did something wrong...

    but in a way i'd be upset.. i mean you are family, I would of told the "strays" to sit in the corner....

    I think DS would have preferred to sit there. We were at a side table, too. There were 23 adults and 4 kids at dinner at my cousin's. It was controlled chaos and so much fun!

    Maybe he was trying to be a gracious host and knew that you would deal! :-)

    I'm sorry but I have to say it -- are you *really* upset about this?

    I mean, if you are a "stranded" wouldn't you feel EVEN worse about not sitting at the main table?  Here, please, come to dinner with my family and we will sit you in the doorway.

    As family, YOU should understand that he does love you and that you are part of that group, regardless.  Taking a "less than perfect" seat, IMO, is contributing to your FIL's WONDERFUL sense of season and allowing the "strandeds" to sit at the main table.

    That's my take on it anyway.

    Now if he had taken my food and given it to the "strandeds" -- there would have been some serious fighting!  ;)
