Holy language explosion

Rosie is in the middle of a huge language explosion.  Today she said, ho ho ho, snowman, frog, pony, heat, angel (in Polish), belly button, yes, and mouse for the first time.  She's also stringing words together, like, "Dada at work."

For moms of older kids- do they acquire languages in bursts like this?  I just don't know whether she's going to keep acquiring words at this pace or whether it will slow down in a little while.

Re: Holy language explosion

  • I can't answer your question about if it's common or not, but isn't it so neat to watch?  G is doing the same thing!  For so long, I was worried that he had a small vocabulary, but the words are coming out of nowhere now.  I love it!  Good job, Rosie!

  • It does come in spurts.  It's amazing!  Eva had about 40 words and then all of the sudden every word she heard she could say and use appropriately.  It was crazy.  Now she speaks in full sentences when just a few months ago she was saying little phrases and just a few months before that, she was just saying random words.

  • That is SO cool. It is just so amazing to watch these kiddos grow. One of the many reasons why I love this board.. I feel like I've gotten to watch all these babies grow up.
