I don't think I"ve had them yet, but I've had lots of constipation, which I think can create/worsen them. I now take a daily Colace to keep constipation at bay. Hopefully it will help with the hemorrhoid issue too!

I got them over 15 years ago and pregnancy is flaring them up, big time. i would suggest drinking as much water as you can and eating as much fiber as you can to help prevent them.
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
I never really got constipated and always drank a lor of water...I still got one I called "Ned" toward the tale end of my pregnancy...maybe b/c of all the weight/pressure down there? Every once in a while I have a flare up...otherwise I don't even feel him...(I refer to it as a him, b/c it must be a male that's a pain in my a$$..hahaha...ha...)

I bought a sitz bath but haven't used it yet because I think I have my issue somewhat under control this week. I also have some Tucks pads with witch hazel in case the situation flares up again.

Not everyone gets them during pg, I didn't with DS. This time I've had the same 1 or 2 for many weeks. I've tried generic hem cream and prep H, along with Tucks pads. Nothing's helping, I don't think they're going anywhere until these babies are born (being pg puts so much pressure on that whole area).
My ob actually recommended just using one of the many diaper rash creams I had on hand for the babies...it keeps the area lubed up which led to less irritation when going to the br...it helps..so do the witch hazel pads a little...good luck - I hope you are able to remain hemorroid free!
I had never had them before and I got them or one while being pregnant. I think there are internal ones that you don't feel and thus don't realize you have. This is what happened to me. I also think there are external ones that you feel. What happened to me was I was straining and it burst and I have bleeding. I freaked out, but it didn't last long and my OB confirmed that it was a hemorrhoid. I never knew I had it and it wasn't bothering me. My OB said I need a stool softner and since then I have had no problem. I am not sure you can avoid them, but making sure you don't get constipated may keep them at bay. GL!
