At what age to stop giving gifts?

My niece and nephew are 18, one is in college the other H.S. I bought for them this year but I'm thinking of not next year. When would you stop buying for family this age? We don't do gifts for adults and I'm thinking they are in that catagory now.

  • I would say if you can afford it, keep it up while they're in college.  Even if it's just a GC to Starbucks, local pizza place, etc.  College kids are usually broke and still appreciate the little gifts.

  • My aunt's family does a secret santa. You get a gift from the family until you are 18. Once you are 18 you join in on the secret santa and everyone pulls names out of a hat and you buy for that one person. This way everyone still gets a gift and it's spread out and affordable.

  • My family is small, so I will always buy for my niece and nephew. DH has 12 nieces/nephews. We do a drawing for that family, and you enter at age 18.

  • My sister was 17 and my brother was 16 when I was born so they had kids way before I did.  I had to finally decide to stop at 18 (after the first 2-3 were in their twenties).  I decided 18 (or graduated) was the cut-off.  It would have gotten to be too much because some of them were getting married and having their own kids...so then I had great nieces and nephews to get for.
