I will be starting either Follistim/GonalF this week on day 2 of my period. Just wondering how the monitoring compares to clomid cycles. How often will I be going in for ultrasounds?
Also, the nurse told me that this will be a shorter cycle because most people only stim for 6-10 days. Is this true?
Re: Follistim/Gonal-F IUI ?
I started off as an IVF cycle but about 9 days in they converted me to IUI. I stimmed for 12 days and they monitored me every other day through u/s and b/w. Again, it was for an IVF cycle, but I am pretty sure they monitor the same way (at least at my clinic) for an IUI cycle. I was on 450 follistim (about 5 follicles but only one matured in the end). It wasn't hard physically, just time consuming with all the monitoring.
Good luck...feel free to ask me any questions. I'm in my 2ww now!
Exciting!!!
Monitoring will probably be a little more frequent. Towards the end of stimming, I go in every other day.
My cycles have been alot shorter. On clomid, I triggered on days 19, 20 & 21 (three cycles) On Gonal-F, I triggered on days 12 & 13 (two cycles).
Best of luck to you!!

Yes they told me they will start me on 75IU. What is the typical starting dose?
I started on 75iu for 2 days and then dropped to 37.5 for the next 7-8 days.
I did respond well to clomid and on the first injects cycle responded really well (3 follies) on the same doseage as above.
I believe 75 is the typical starting dose for IUI. I started on 75 for 5 days I think. Then they bumped me up to 112, which is what I'm still on. As of yesterday I had 3 follicles: 14mm, 11mm, and 9mm, so I am finally responding to it.
