Are 911 tapes not part of medical privacy?

I just heard they released the 911 tapes from Tiger Woods crash.  Are these tapes not part of the medical privacy laws?  They seem to appear on TV all the time, but it seems like they should be private.  I would want mine to be.

I would hope so.  Esp in cases where it is a tragic accident.  I would be P!$$eD if something happened to my family and they played the 911 tape of me freaking my $#!T while trying to get help.

I hate hearing those tapes.  So sad to hear someone going through something and feeling helpless.

  • No they are not part of medical history.  They use them all the time in investigations.
  • They really should be private.  Obviously no one cares about a 911 call I'd make- but I would bet it would enter the mind of a celebrity in a more "delicate" situation (drugs, etc).
  • eh, does no one remember the show rescue 911? i really don't think it's that big of a deal. i mean, i guess i could see if you're tryring to hide something but then maybe you were doing something you had no business. if they were releasing some type of detailed treatment or medical info i could see a problem.

  • I don't know, but I hhhhhhhate that the "dramatic 911 tapes" of every freaking tragedy are paraded around the news channels so everyone can indulge their morbid curiosity.  There is absolutely no other purpose to broadcast something like that.
