OPK Test

After our meeting with RE since my cycle runs long (about 40 days) she wanted me to use a OPK to see if I could detect ovulation this cycle. She told me to start at CD21 (which was yesterday). I got a positive read on it yesterday. I was really surprised because it would be early for ovulation based on a 40 day cycle. Does anyone know if it is possible to get false positives on these? It was a Clear Blue digital if that makes any difference.

Re: OPK Test

  • I have heard that digital OPK's are that great. I was told to just use the regular CBE. GL!

  • My RE specifically told me not to use OPK's b/c of PCOS.  She said that the strange hormone levels in PCOS patients can often cause false positives on OPK's, and that women with PCOS can experience multiple hormone surges in a cycle without ever releasing an egg.
