can you take LO to the movie theater?

I am thinking it would be fun to go during the day when the theater is less crowded. Does anyone know, do theaters allow this?

yes they allow, but if LO acts up they like you to step out. I have done this and witnessed it also. I went and saw the blind side, when it came out and my LO is 7 weeks old, and there was also a couple in there with a 1 week old baby...I just went around a nap time..HTH

Unless you're the only one watching the movie I would find that rude to the other moviegoers.  DD will sometimes cry when we're out to eat so I can't imagine bringing her to a movie where you're supposed to be quiet.  So unless your LO is known to be quiet all the time that's a big risk and to me a distraction.

Unless the theater specifically states "No Children Under ____ Age" then it is perfectly acceptable. We have a movie theater where we live where children under 13 cannot attend, even with an adult.

It seems like I've heard that some theaters have special showings for parents of infants, but I could be making that up.

I took LO to see New Moon and during a quiet part in the movie, he decided to let one rip. Not a normal one, but a long, loud wet one.  My DH couldn't stop laughing.

At that age I would.  My DS is now 7 months, and there is no way...  so, do it wile you still can.

I used to work at a movie theater and people would bring infants in all the time.  Obviously if they start crying you leave until they've calmed down but we never had a problem.

I would not take DD to a theatre right now ...  seems like it would be WAY too loud.

We though of taking LO to see New Moon because I wanted to see it so bad. Instead we went to the drive in and he was sooo good! Of course we were in our own car and had the sound turned up as we saw fit for LO and if he cried only we could hear him. He slept through most of it and woke up for a bottle the last 1/2 hour and then went back to sleep. I highly recommend the drive in if there is one near you!

Mine does- it's called Stars and Strollers. Lights are not as dark and the sound is quieter.

I would never take my son to a regular movie because I think it's very rude to the other moviegoers since I can't guarantee he'll be quiet.

I took my son on thanksgiving day (he was 1 day shy of 7 weeks) to see A Christmas Carol.  He slept the entire movie in his carseat.  Not a peep.  The theater was about half ful and we had no problems.  We sat right on the end of a row by the exit for a quick out if need be, but didn't need to.  People say it's rude, but I think you have every right to go and enjoy yourself. 

Do what you can to prepare (have a bottle, near an exit, go at nap time etc) but you can't please everyone.  I think it's rude for people to tell me to get a babysitter or stay home.  Just because I'm a mom doesn't mean I can't do the same things everyone else can for entertainment.  Otherwise I'd never be able to go out to eat with my baby, or go check out a book at the library where people expect quiet, or go to a museum...
