chance of multiples

Did you RE tell what the percent chance of multiples there was on any given injectibles cycle?

Re: chance of multiples

  • Not chance, but my RE treats any mature follie (or almost mature follie) as a potential baby.  3 mature follies makes him nervous, but he is pretty conservative.

  • It really would depend on how many follies you have when you trigger.

Surprise! Baby #4 is due in March!
  • Every cycle I've had has been 3 follies at trigger.  My RE always goes through the percentages ect. but after almost a year of medicated cycles, nothing.  But, every person is different and like a pp said it really depends on how many follies you have.

  • My RE has said that Clomid + trigger gives a 5-8% chance of multiples, so I would assume an injectable cycle would have a slightly higher chance.  But like pp said, it will depend on the number of follies.

  • no they just discuss with me the fact that I am increasing my risk of multiples and review what my options would be if I concieve HOM.

Last cycle I triggered (after injects) with 5 mature follies. Clearly I'm not pregnant. I think the whole thing is more than just an odds game. When I triggered, I had to do so early because I was overstimming. I think any follies I had created were fried. I think they knew that too, so they weren't worried about me triggering with 5.

  • My RE gave us the percentages because I had so many mature follies the last IUI cycle we did.  The numbers for Follistim are (remember these are the percentages of people that actually achieved pregnancy):  60.3% singletons, 28.6% twins, 4.9% triplets or more, 6.2% undetermined.

BTW, we were also told that the risk of multiples is higher with IUI than with IVF.  With IVF, they have better control because they only will transfer a certain number of embryos.

Dx with severe endometriosis. DS#1 conceived with Met and TI. TTC#2 for 2.5 yrs. Dx 2nd IF. 4 clomid cycles, 2 IUIs, Finally IVF#1 w/ICSI worked for us! twins born 35w3d. Unexpected total hysterectomy 6/11. Now on the HRT train.

  • My RE says 20% chance of multiples with injects.
