TTC after 35

IUI Question

I'm doing my first IUI this month - Clomid + Follisitm w/Ovridel Trigger.

I just finished my Clomid last night.  I feel like I am having signs indicating ovulation today - which is day 7 (early, I know).  I decided not to do the CBEFM this month and just let the clinic worry about all that (I know - I'm regretting that decision) - but I'm just wondering if Clomid can cause you to O early?  Or would side effects make it seem like you are?  And if I got tests and found out that I was, should we try to take advantage - given that we don't know how many follicles we have and I don't want to end up w/higher order multiples?

I'm sure I'm just overthinking things, but appreciate any input you may have....

Re: IUI Question

  • I think the s/e of Clomid can make it seem like you will O early. It gave me crampy ovaries and TONS of CM while taking it days 5-9, but that dried up before O on CD 14. I would do OPKs to monitor for your surge. If you are surging now, see if your doc can take you in a little earlier for an u/s.

  • Like QE, I always have had cramps while taking it (or shortly there after) but I still o'd at the usual time.

I also think that you will for sure want to use the OPKs.

  • Thanks for the info. ladies:)
  • I am in the same situation as you.  I went in on Nov. 27(cd10) and had 3 mature follicles.  They gave me the trigger shot and I had my IUI today (cd11).  I wasn't even supposed to start using my opk until tomorrow, and would have missed it. Better safe than sorry!
