Does a higher dose of clomid cause more follicles? I O on my own but b/c of issues with dh count and motility my dr has prescribed 100mg of clomid this time instead of 50mg.

I thought I had read that if you O on your own, clomid will not do much for you, but I could be wrong about that.  Not sure what in increase in dosage does.

no, a higher dose does not necessarily mean more follicles.

From what I understand, it kind of depends on the patient.  For some, it might create more follicles, but for others, it is just a heavier dose to actually develop any follicles in the first place.  Good luck on TTC. Everyone here is a great resource.  Hang in there on the Clomid, too.  I hope it works this time!

I guess it depends.  I O on my own, unexplained IF.  Did 3 clomid cycles, each with an increasing dose.  The highest being 150mg.  I only ever got 2 follies for each cycle.

Side effects got worse as the doses went up though.

I O on my own - 50mg of clomid has twice given me only 1 follicle, and once has given me 3. No real explanation as to why such a difference.

I O on my own, too.  I'm on my 4th Clomid cycle (incl the Challenge).  I started at 100mg and I'm at 150mg now.  I only produced 1 follie in the first cycles.  On the 150mg this time, I produced 2 really good and 2 slightly smaller follies, which increases my odds. 

The initial reason I was put on Clomid was to help me O earlier.  I O late witth a short LP, on my own.  On Clomid, I O much earlier.
