Do you or will you pay her?

My MIL won't even let us reimburse her for diapers.  I'm not complaining, but I do feel a little guilty.

We're getting her a nice Christmas present at least.

Nope.  My parents would be pissed if we insisted on paying for them to watch their first grandchild.  What we would do is just provide diapers and wipes on occasion to help them out.

We wanted to pay MIL when the time comes but she is having none of that. We will buy the formula, diapers, etc to keep there.

My MIL runs a daycare and she said he would be there for free because the owner's grandchildren stay for free. We still have to provide diapers and such, even though she said she would, we refused.

my MIL watches our little one and we pay her $100/ wk and provide the food and diapers. Trust me, at $400/mo she is saving me a lot of money. She is just watching him for a couple of months so nothing perm.

My dad babysits full time for us and has since dd was born.  My parents will not accept any money.

I pay my mom, but it is way less than what I would be paying if I had to use a regular day care. This was the compromise we settled on. Works out good for all of us.

We are paying my parents $400/mo. If we all lived in the same city on a permanent basis we wouldn't give them anything, but they moved to Dallas and got an apartment here so we wanted to help offset some of their expenses. It is still WAY cheaper than daycare. We buy all of our diapers and wipes but they tend to buy the formula. They do their laundry at our house and said they want to buy the formula b/c they are using more water. It makes me laugh  b/c I think our water bill went up $6 last month and formula is like $100/mo.

I waitress, and am only doing it on an "on-call" basis for the first few months.  So when my mom does come to watch him I give her $20-30 bucks and tell her it's for gas since she has to drive about an hour each way to watch him. 

At first I tried to "pay her" and she refused to accept...but "gas money" made sense to her lol...

nope.  My mom runs a home daycare and I am using one of her infant slots.  She refuses to let me pay.  We are very lucky though because right now we couldnt afford the cost of daycare if we had to use someone outside of the family.

My MIL will be watching her. She keeps insisting that she will provide "everything but breastmilk" and refuses to let us pay her. But we are bringing diapers and wipes and I have provided her with a swing, and a few other things although she bought a crib and bassinet before we could get them. We really want to try and pay her but aren't even sure how much to offer her. So she will be getting extra special birthday and Christmas gifts at least.

when the grandparents watch him no, they just love the time with him. My sister does watch him three days out of the week while we are at work and I do pay her. She is a college student. She works parttime in childcare and says one baby is way easier but she helps out with the house and dogs so its totally worth it, I pay her 200/wk.

• we didn't pay mil for twins(first grandchildren) but we did get nice gifts! At that time she bought all the stuff she needed for her own place too!
• this time dh oferred to pay her and get her all the essentials for her home (dunno what he was thinking!) I guess we're hoping she'll last more than 19 months...that's when we put twins in daycare.
