Co workers daughter

my co worker just told me her daughter had her 3rd m/c in a year. She has never made it past 12 weeks. The daughter has had chromosone testing but not her partner. Her Dr told her she probably will not be able to have children. What do I say to my co worker. I feel for her and the family and I know there is so much more they can do.

Re: Co workers daughter

  • I would probably just tell her how sorry you are (maybe share you story if you are comfortable).  You could probably ask if she has seen an RE and if she has considered a second opinion.  I don't think that is being pushy and maybe just planting the seed would get them to consider more options.  That is very sad.

  • Are you "out" to your coworker? If so, I wouldn't push a library of info to her for her to then push onto her daughter, kwim? The daughter might be embarrassed if she found out her mom was blabbing her IF problems to her coworkers. I would just say that you are very knowledgeable about the trials of getting/staying pregnant and if either your coworker or her daughter ever has any questions you'd be happy to help as best you can.

  • I am out to my co worker. I let her know the first time the daughter had a m/c. I also told her if her daughter needs someone I will be glad to share the information. I also suggested seeing an RE instead of her ob/gyn. I also let my coworker know that her partner should be tested as it might have to do with him and not just her and that there are other tests that they can run. I did not through a lot of information at her but let her know that I have more if she needed it.

I think what you said to her sounds perfectly fine then. I'm sure your coworker appreciates it.
