Infertility

Recap from RE's appt yesterday.. Thoughts? (long)

I had an ultrasound a week or so ago. That came back "negative" so no cystic ovaries, lining was fine, etc.

I previously took 2 rounds of Prometrium and AF never showed. I was crampy, bloated and generally pms'y but nothing came.

I am up to 2500mg Met with ZERO side effects.

I am suppose to start Prometrium again on the 15th of Dec and see what that does, if anything.

She's not concerned at all about the Prometrium not working and just said that my body must be so out of whack it's taking extra time for everything to line up correctly.

I had her draw blood again to see what my various levels are because my insulin was high in July and my thryoid level was borderline high and she hasn't drawn blood since.

After the 1st of the year if no AF or anything for that matter we go on to the HSG and these "various other" fertility tests which she didn't specify about, so I have no clue what those are.

She ended the appt by telling me to keep doing what I was doing and to remind me that I could just "get pregnant" any day. I wanted to ask her what she knew about immaculate conception because I'm not ovulating and I know sperm alone, does not a baby make :)

  • I am from Boston as well. May I ask who your RE is and clinic you are going to?

I do not want to assume, but to me it sounds like you are still seeing an gyn? Since you are in MA you should take advantage of the awesome healthcare laws we have in place to mandate IF coverage and not waste much more time with your Gyn.

My first red flag that I think you need to follow up on is your "Borderline high thyroid" is that borderline high for an average person or borderline high for someone TTC. TSH levels for people who are TTC or will be pregnant are much lower then those not. It should be 2.5 or lower when TTC or pregnant.

A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

  • I'm seeing an RE, her name is Veronica Ravnikar. She is one of the head doctors at South Shore Hospital.

I know the thyroid tests are important. It had gone down from a high of 4.2 to 3.63 but that was from July. That's why she ran a new panel.
