Pack 'n Play advice

If I have a mini cosleeper, 2 cribs, swing etc. do I really need a PNP?  If so do you recommend one in particular for twins?

Do they outgrow a regular PNP pretty quickly?  TIA!

Re: Pack 'n Play advice

  • My babies aren't here yet, but we have an original size arms reach co-sleeper for when the babies come home and sleep in our room, then cribs for their room, and swings/bouncy chair and we also got a pack n play.  My plan for the pack n play is to set it up in the living room for diaper changes and naps in the beginning.  Later we will use it for travel.  I have heard that people use them for downstairs when they have a multi-level home.  You can check the weight limits, but my nephew is 18 mos and he still sleeps in a pack n play when they travel to my moms house!

  • with Griffin we mostly used the PNP for the changing table - in our living room, when he was a baby... then when he got bigger it was great to have it as a "safe spot" to put him quickly if i had to go to the bathroom or answer the door, etc.

We haven't even set it up for the twins yet - but plan to once they are crawling - so we have that safe spot for them when needed - other than that, it doesn't serve a big purpose in our house - but is still pretty important for me to have.  Any PNP will do - you don't need one for twins, that's for sure.

  • We have a 2 story house, so the PNP changing table was an essential when we came home from the hospital with DD.

We use it for camping and other overnight trips, so I definitely think it's something to have.  They're all one size, so there isn't a special one for twins.

DD is almost 2, over 3' tall, and still hasn't outgrown her PNP.

  • For us, PNPs were essential.  We travel often, so the babies needed somewhere to sleep.  Plus, for a period of several months, we had the girls separated due to sleep issues, so we ended up putting one of the girls in a PNP in a guest room for that period.  We also used them as a safe place to put a baby when we were attending to the other one, moving the other one to another floor, or taking one of them out to the car after they were out of their infant seats but before they could walk.

We just used two regular PNPs.  The girls were still using them at 2.5 and fit fine.  We only stopped using them because they switched to big-girl beds.

  • We have a multi-level house, and have always just gone up and down the steps for changing/naps/nightime.  We have a pack-n-play that we use for travelling, it is a huge (joovy room playyard....think old school playpen size rather than the typical packnplays).  Since it is so big, I am planning on just always having them share it.  I think once they become mobile it will be nice to have downstairs to put them when I need to go to the bathroom, run to the kitchen, etc.
  • I registered for the joovy play yard. As pp mentioned it's much bigger than the regular pnp so my hope is the bambinos will be able to share it for a long while.

We'll keep our eye out for a used pnp w/ bassinet to use at home to use on the first floor of our house for changes/naps during the day.

  • we had the girls sleeping in the pnp in our room, and they recently started waking each other up.  They move around alot and I think the pnp bassinet sags, so they scoot to the middle and wriggle each other awake..  We werent ready to move them to cribs, so we borrowed my sister's co sleeper for one of them.  I will be getting another pnp for travel.

  • I bought the twin PNP and have set it up in our room for when the girls come . I wish I hadn't wasted the money though because you can't take the bassinettes off and use it as a regular PNP without the platform being down on the bottom. It is bigger then a regular one but we could have bought two basic ones for the price!
