Upstate NY Babies

I'm too old for this

I have already been in tears...

Why does my baby go to bed at like 2 in the morning?  She's up from like 7pm to 2am .  This is so ridiculous.

Today is my 5-year anniversary and I'm not happy knowing I'm going to feel like utter crap tomorrow.  I already feel like utter crap and I haven't gotten the maybe 5 hours that I'll get by the time my toddler gets up in the morning.

I would be fine if I didn't have an energetic toddler to deal with all day, I can't keep up and I can't keep doing 5 hour nights... can I change my infant's schedule somehow?

Re: I'm too old for this

  • The only thing that helped me somewhat (we still dont sleep a ton by any means) is to feed her every 2 hours thruout the day.  Even if she was asleep I would wake her and make her nurse even just a little.  I did this for like 3 days in a row and she started sleeping more at night.  She had her days and nights backward, but maybe it would still help you since her nights start so late.

ETA: Of course I am sitting here typing this at 12:30 :)  But she usually sleeps now 12-4 and 5-7.  Which is much better than she used to.

  • Have you read Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child ?  I am pretty sure there was a section about this, the Accadean(sp) sleep rhythm.  I know, who has time to read when you don't have time for sleep!!!  I scanned the book while nursing when Ty didn't sleep.  I lived for about two years on less than 4 hours of sleep a day so I can totally empathise.  You start to slowly lose your sanity after awhile, then the depression kicks in.  Same ***, day in, day out nothing to look forward to, not even night time because you are up half the night with the baby.  Then to top it all off, you have a DH who wants attention too!
