I am not a mother of multiples, but I recently came across some statistics on how age of the mother and of course IVF or other forms of fertilization treatments can affect chances of having multiples. So what are the stats on this board ?
and yes- age can effect the chances - that is common knowledge... nothing new--- when you are older your body starts to spit out more eggs sometimes...
this board is about 50/50 when it comes to IF treatments and spontaneous - not sure of ages - never mattered to me.
Ha ha! I knew this would be commented on. I laughed as soon as I saw the word "natural"! I always think that is funny! Like all-natural peanut butter or something. What's the other stuff made of?
i dont' think age (or fertility treatments, for that matter) matter if the multiples are identical. generally (but NOT always) those kids are just freaky flukes. (i can say that.)

Maybe I'm just easily amused?!
This generally doesn't bother me - my babies are "artificial" - and I don't really care about the word natural- but i know it bothers some people- and i have to say - that random non-multiple moms/pgs coming here and asking such a question- with no explaination of why they want to know - well, that annoys me... it's just odd.... adding to the "multiples are side show freaks" perception that seems to happen on this board.

yes- you CAN say that for sure! Freaky oh yeah! They have you for a mom!!! But you made some of the cutest "side show freaks" out there!!

No, I do not think that multiples are side show freaks; i think they are amazing! I have twins in my family and a few good friends who have twins. I probably don't have an explanation that would be acceptable for you...sorry to "annoy" you!

it's not YOU per say- but the constant barrage of questions we get on here from non-MoMs/pgs who just ask questions that are often very personal- and never offer any explanation about why they want to know.
I'm an open book- I have no problem sharing my story- but if people are going to ask things like that- it's nice to explain why they want to know.
I agree with Goldie. I also think 24/25 is kind of an odd age to make your split. 24 is still pretty young for a first-time mom. 25 is still 10 years away from "advanced maternal age."
It is true that the older you get the more likely it is for your body to "hyper ovulate" causing you to have fraternal twins.
Not to be a turd but how do you know you will be able to EBF? Just to check the reality, many women set out with intentions to breast feed and for one reason or another can't. Don't set yourself up to be dissapointed if it doesn't work.

I did with DD and plan to with this one, I won't have it any other way.

Ditto.
And if you're going to leave this poll up, at least edit the natural to spontaneous.

Pam - as part of the freaky flukes club, I thought I've read that identicals are most likely to occur in younger mothers or older mothers as eggs are weaker in these age groups. But as we all know they can occur at any age.
Re: Mothers of Multiples clicky poll :)
all babies are "natural"
the correct word is "spontaneous"
Just wanted to let you know that you may get some comments on "naturally". I think most people prefer "spontaneous".
I don't care one way or the other. Just thought I'd let you know!

Ugh.
Fertilization? Natural? All babies are natural and a result of fertilized eggs.
(I understand more each day why the other board exists. Seriously.)
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
ditto.
Double ugh. I am sooooo tired of this being asked every week. [sigh]

UH-OH!!!!! You used the naughty naughty "N" word!!!
I should add that I don't give a crap if you use the N word.

This is what got my attention too.
