To preface, I have called the pedi and I am to call back on Monday (regarding what I am about to tell you) if it has not already resolved itself.
We switched to whole milk on Friday of last week. DD took to it just fine. She had her first bowel movement the next morning and no signs of discomfort.
However! Her poops since we switched to whole milk have become a tan/khaki/golden color. It has now been 7 days and they are still this color.
DH's side of the family has a milk intolerance, which he has luckily been able to avoid. My sister could only drink goat milk until she was 3.
Has anyone else's LO had this issue? I am not freaking out, just curious what could be causing this situation.
Thanks bunches! ![]()
Re: Question about poop coloring
That sounds normal to me. Cows milk can also cause a little constipation at first. We back tracked for a few days and mixed formula with milk till he got used to it. Most of my friends that have kids with dairy intolerances say the poop is pretty mucousy.
DSs poop ranges in color. It all depends on what he has been eating. I pay more attention to the consistancy of the poop vs. the color.
If DD doesn't seem uncomfortable and if the consistancy is normal (not too hard not too soft) I would not worry.
You can also mix formula or BM with the whole milk.
Typically, I would agree. However, her poop has been this color with every.single.poop. for the past 7 days. I have seen it change color for a day or so if we are introducing a new food, but never for a full week. I am definitely not worried, just wanting to get to the bottom (he he) of it, since my other friends whose children have gone through the milk change have not had this issue. thanks
